Psychosocial services

Maggie's Cancer Support

Maggie’s Cancer Support is providing support from Psychologists and Benefits Advisors via telephone and email. Maggie’s online community for peer support and private messaging with the Cancer Support Team is also available.

Paul's Cancer Support Centre​

Paul’s Cancer Support Centre is providing one to one therapies, including counselling and hypnotherapy, available by telephone/Skype. Paul’s is also running a singing group virtually through Zoom and signposting to guided meditations. Paul’s Cancer Support Centre is also running live yoga classes, as well as online meetings for the Move Dance Feel exercise classes. More services will be available soon.

Fight Bladder Cancer

Fight Bladder Cancer is providing information and resources, as well as virtual support groups and online bladder buddies.

Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is providing information and resources, as well as an online support forum.

Brain Tumour Charity

The Brain Tumour Charity is providing Information, resources and online support communities.

Breast Cancer Now

Breast Cancer Now is providing a helpline with their specialist nurses from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Breast Cancer Now is also providing online support services, as well as information and resources.

Cancer Research UK is providing information and resources, as well as an online forum where you can share experiences

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Support

Jo’s Cervical Cancer Support is providing information and resources, as well as a helpline and an online forum.

Leukaemia Care

Leukaemia Care is providing information and resources, as well as helpful which is open from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Wednesday, and from 7am to 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

Lymphoma Action

Lymphoma Action is providing information and resources, as well as a live chat on their website and a helpline, which is open from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is providing information and support via email, as well as a nurse support line which is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4pm on Fridays.

Mesothelioma UK

Mesothelioma UK is providing information and resources, as well as an information line open from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, and information via email.

Mouth Cancer Foundation

Mouth Cancer Foundation is providing a patient and advice helpline and support via email.

Orchid – Fighting Male Cancer

Orchid is providing information and resources, as well as a helpline and support from nurses via email.

Ovacome - Ovarian Cancer

Ovacome is providing information and resources, as well as support by telephone and email from the team. Ovacome also provides a virtual group for younger people affected by cancer available by phone or video call.

Neuroendocrine Cancer UK

Neuroendocrine Cancer UK is providing information and resources, as well as a helpline and support via email. All online support groups remain open and there are plans to run virtual Natter groups.

Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate Cancer UK is providing information and resources, as well as a helpline open from 9am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Wednesdays. Prostate Cancer UK also provides an online chat with nurses.

Trekstock

Trekstock provides cancer support for adults in their 20s or 30s. Trekstock is providing information and resources, as well as support from an active online community. Trekstock is also providing the RENEW exercise programme online, as well as other exercise videos available online.

Shine

Shine provides cancer support for adults in their 20s, 30s or 40s. Shine has many active Facebook groups for online support, and is running many support groups virtually. Shine’s website also hosts a wide range of support videos on their website.

Live Through This and Maggie’s Barts

The LGBTIQ+ charity, Live Through This, are working in partnership with Maggie’s Centre at Barts Health to run LGBTIQ+ Cancer Peer Support groups online. These are open to any LGBTIQ+ person affected by cancer in the UK and run every Thursday from 6pm – 7.30pm.

The Fruit Fly Collective

The Fruit Fly Collective provides tips and resources for talking to children about coronavirus.

Anxiety UK

Anxiety UK have extended their helpline hours to include weekend days from 10am to 8pm. Anxiety UK is also providing online support groups and webinars.

Mind

Mind is providing information and resources, as well as several helplines.

Good Thinking

Good Thinking provides tools and resources to help yourself and others to feel better.

The Samaritans

The Samaritans is providing information and resources, as well as support via phone and email.

The Silver Line

The Silver Line is a helpline for older adults, which provides information, friendship and confidential advice. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Prehab4 Cancer

The Prehab4Cancer programme is a free prehabilitation programme in Greater Manchester, which provides exercise videos available online.

St Christopher's Hospice

St Christopher’s Hospice provides exercise videos online to enable exercise at home.

Trekstock

Trekstock provides cancer support for adults in their 20s or 30s. Trekstock is providing the RENEW exercise programme online, as well as other exercise videos available online. Trekstock is also providing information and resources, as well as support from an active online community.

Bereavement services:

Cruse

Cruse provides information and resources for dealing with bereavement and loss during the coronavirus pandemic. Cruse is also providing a helpline for those who are bereaved and self-isolating. The helpline is open from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours of 9.30am to 8pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  

Way (Widowed and Young)

Way (Widowed and Young) provides support for those aged 50 or under when their partner dies. Way is providing support through their member’s online website, Facebook groups and virtual meet ups.

The Good Grief Trust

The Good Grief Trust is providing information and resources, as well as updates to signpost to support services and helplines which can offer dedicated advice and support.
